Assessment Objectives
AO1 - Develop their ideas through investigations informed by contextual and other sources demonstrating analytical and cultural understanding.
RESEARCH - This is about your research of other photographers' work and writing about your understanding of the work and any information you can find about why the photographers have created the work.
AO2 - Refine their ideas through experimenting and selecting appropriate resources, media, materials, techniques and processes.
EXPERIMENT - This is about your experiments with the camera (and post-processing/Photoshop). Your notes should include your notes about what you have done and this shows that you understand the processes you are using.
AO3 - Record ideas, observations and insights relevant to their intentions in visual and/or other forms.
DEVELOPMENT - This is about how you develop your work as you experiment and research. Your projects should include at least 4x clear steps of development towards your final piece and your notes should highlight development and connections to research and experimentation.
AO4 - Present a personal, informed and meaningful response demonstrating analytical and critical understanding, realising intentions and where appropriate, making connections between visual, written, oral or other elements.
PRESENTATION - This is about how you present your work and conclude or finish off your work. Your final piece should be planned (with a written proposal) and that writing should answer ALL the highlighted parts of AO4 with a written conclusion.
Quality of Written Communication (QWC)
In GCSE specifications which require candidates to produce written material in English, candidates must:
• ensure that text is legible and that spelling, punctuation and grammar are accurate so that meaning is clear.
• select and use a form and style of writing appropriate to purpose and to complex subject matter.
• organise information clearly and coherently, using specialist vocabulary when appropriate.
In this specification QWC will be assessed, where appropriate, through Assessment Objective 3.
The quality of writing (spelling, grammar and proper use of technical terms) is CRUCIAL. To be successful you MUST follow the above 3 bullet points and this is absolutely crucial if you are ambitious towards higher grades.
